The BushHouse quality small business conference centre and budget cottage and B&B accommodation is situated right on the Wairarapa plains, surrounded by mountains and hilly ranges, it's a wonderful and geographically contrasting area. Historic Greytown is also one of the first settlements in New Zealand.  There are a multitude of places to go and see, to numerous to mention, here are just a few, we hope you find this information useful. 

River Fishing

We have one of the best brown and just recently we discovered rainbow trout river's in NZ the Ruamahanga. It's only few minutes away from Bush House with various places along the river to fish and swim, Great for Fly fishing and spinning. 

In the picture on the right we have our very own Lord Of The Rings Hobbit, Samwise Gamgee look-a-like having just caught a rainbow trout.

We can organise a fishing license and equipment for you and your party.

   
Tramping / Hiking

There are many places to go walking and tramping to enjoy the local area, all within easy reach.

Try the Haurangi Forest Park and Waiohine Gorge, a spectacular river gorge and native forest area with the longest swing bridge of its kind in New Zealand.

 Beaches / Surf Casting

As the name suggests, when you are in the cave, turn the lights out, and see a spectacular sight! A miniature night sky made by thousands of glowworms.


Respecting the farmers gates and land, you'll also find excellent tramping here, with awesome views of the surrounding plains and other mountain ranges.


To get there, head to Martinborough, turn right at square, a few km's down the road turn left at Dry River road and look for the AA signs.





Head south west to the Palliser Bay and check out the beaches. You'll find exceptional deep sea fishing for Crayfish, Blue Cod, Paua and others. Check out this Ocean Beach sunset!

4x4,  Dirt & Mountain Biking, Quads
 Vineyards / Wine Trails

Drive past the Glowworm Caves and soon you will be driving through a fabulous gorge, heading towards the Haurangi Forest Park, keep going and you hit 4x4 track.  As you get further along it gets harder, and may only be suitable for  dirt bikes or short wheel base 4x4.  

Great for mountain bike or dirt bike riding all along the way. You'll also find liquid refreshments along the way, there's a small waterfall on the road side a few minutes before reaching the track.

Martinborough is considered to be of "prime quality" suited to viticulture.

The area has had outstanding international success across a broad range of varieties including Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Riesling and Pinot Gris. Many of New Zealand's finest wine at the ultra-premium end of the market originate from the region.

All canoe and kayak trips include a visit to his unique collection of mounted animals and birds. These can be seen in a delightful log-built display house constructed under the supervision of Canadian Allan Mackie, internationally acclaimed 'guru' of log builders.
